About the Khandaghosh ICDS Project
The Khandaghosh Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project is a pivotal initiative aimed at improving the health, nutrition, and overall well-being of children under six years of age, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. It operates through a network of 283 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) strategically located to serve the community effectively. Each centre acts as a cornerstone for implementing the objectives of the ICDS scheme, which strives to combat malnutrition, promote early childhood development, and provide essential services to marginalized populations.
Objectives of the ICDS Project
The Khandaghosh ICDS Project is committed to:
- Reducing the prevalence of malnutrition and anemia among children and women.
- Promoting healthy practices related to nutrition, sanitation, and child care.
- Providing pre-school education to children aged 3 to 6 years.
- Supporting pregnant and lactating women through nutritional supplements and counseling.
- Conducting regular health check-ups and immunization drives in collaboration with healthcare providers.
Key Personnel
The Khandaghosh ICDS Project is managed under the leadership of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Lalesh Sharma. With a vision for community welfare, the CDPO oversees the implementation of all programs and ensures that services reach the intended beneficiaries. The CDPO is supported by a dedicated team of six supervisors, who are instrumental in monitoring and coordinating the activities of the Anganwadi Centres. These supervisors provide guidance to the Anganwadi workers, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Each of the 283 Anganwadi Centres under the Khandaghosh ICDS Project offers the following essential services:
-
Supplementary Nutrition: Nutritional food is provided to children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers to combat malnutrition.

This collaborative approach ensures that the community takes ownership of the initiatives, leading to sustainable development.
